wind fleece hybrid
Dense-woven front panels, fleece back. Structure described, nothing promised.
three places, three grades
a grade with no reason is not a grade
- hikingsuitable
- Handles an exposed ridge without a shell, and the fleece back still lets heat out on the climb.
- cyclingsuitable
- The woven panels sit exactly where a rider meets the air; back hem drops 5 cm and the collar closes high.
- commutingsuitable
- Clean woven front reads as a jacket rather than a fleece.
Cycling grades account for back hem length, sleeve length with your arms forward on the bars, and whether there is a rear pocket you can reach. Rear pocket on this piece: no.

the piece
Fleece where you need to move air, densely woven panels where the wind hits first — chest, shoulders, outer sleeve. The front panels are a tight weave with a wind flap behind the zip. That is the construction; how much wind reaches you depends on the wind.
what it does, and where it stops
how we test- fabric weight
- 240 g/m²
- garment weight
- 396 g in EU 50 / M
- packed volume
- 1 L
- water repellency
- light — PFC-free DWR, C0 chemistry, applied to the face fabric
- when the finish runs out
- 20 to 30 machine washes, sooner where a pack or saddle rubs
- how you will know
- water stops beading and rolls into the weave instead; the face fabric darkens where it soaks in
- how to renew it
- Wash it clean first, then apply a wash-in or spray-on repellent, then reactivate with a warm tumble dry or a warm iron through a cloth.
- hydrostatic resistance (EN ISO 811)
- Not published.
- breathability (EN ISO 11092)
- Not published.
Measured stuffed into its own pocket and compressed by hand — not a machine-compressed figure.
Sheds a shower and wind-driven spray. It is not a rain barrier: in steady rain the face fabric wets out and water reaches the layer underneath, first at the shoulders and the seat.
Not measured. This garment is water-repellent only, so no hydrostatic figure is published for it.
Not yet measured. No breathability figure is published and no breathability claim is made until it is measured to this standard.
- Wind-facing panels: 42 × 42 dense plain weave with a full-length internal flap behind the zip
- Construction is described rather than rated — a woven panel reduces air flow, it does not stop it
- Fleece back and underarm at 240 g/m²

Garment measurements in centimetres, taken flat. Tolerance ±1 cm — a run of fabric is never exact, and we would rather print the tolerance than pretend it away.

Measured on a mannequin held at a 35° forward lean. A forward lean lifts the back hem and pulls the sleeve back from the wrist, so these figures are lower than the standing ones — that is the effect, stated rather than hidden.
